Good and Bad News

First off, the good news - we're 1st in the ACC courtesy of an ugly 63-54 win over UVa that sent ACC basketball back to the 1950's. I'm not complaining at all, we probably need 8 ACC wins this year, and games like the one tonight we absolutely have to have. Good job by the team in getting the job done and holding tough in the second half when they could have let it fall apart. There's a lot of areas we need to get better at, but that's for another day. 1-0 in the ACC is always good.

Bad news - the ACC bowl tie-ins still suck beyond all things that have ever sucked. Despite wins over Auburn and Miami, and finished 4th in the ACC - GT is being shipped out to San Fransisco to play in the Emerald Bowl against Utah, one of yet another gimmicky little bowls we've played in the past 9 years. Heck, this one goes even one better than the blue turf though - it's played in a reconfigured baseball stadium, with BOTH TEAMS on the same sideline (see the picture below, it's unreal). Only thing we can do is just repeat our performance of last year, where we beat a supbar opponent senseless and proved we were screwed over. Oh well, at least BC got screwed over even more. Newsflash - playing a road game in Boise in December isn't a reward to anyone. What a farce.
